Tripoli Certification Granted for Three Kosdon TRM by AeroTechTM Reload Kits

AeroTech, Inc. and Frank Kosdon of Kosdon Enterprises are pleased to announce that AeroTech has received certifications from the Tripoli Motor Testing (TMT) Committee for three designations of Kosdon TRM by AeroTechTM reload kits.

The motors tested and certified are the 38mm I310S-P, I370S-P and the 54mm K400S-P. California certification efforts are underway.

Granting of the certifications means that AeroTech will be able to demonstrate the new Kosdon TRM by AeroTech reload kits at the upcoming Springfest launch at El Dorado Dry Lake in Nevada on 3/17-18 and the ALRS launch in Switzerland on 3/23-25, 2001. AeroTech representatives plan on attending both launches and Frank Kosdon will be at Springfest to help demonstrate the new products.

DOT EX-Number Approvals Granted for Kosdon TRM by AeroTech™ Reload Kits
AeroTech, Inc. and Frank Kosdon of Kosdon Enterprises are pleased to announce that AeroTech has received "EX-Number" approvals from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to ship all Kosdon TRM by AeroTechTM reload kits.

Since announcement of the AeroTech-Kosdon exclusive licensing agreement in May of 2000, Frank Kosdon and AeroTech personnel have been hard at work with documentation, certification and manufacturing efforts aimed at successfully duplicating Dr. Kosdon's line of reloadable motors using Kosdon "Fast", "Slow", "Dirty Harry" and delay formulations. Receipt of this approval means that AeroTech can proceed immediately with motor testing and certification efforts through the Tripoli Motor Testing Committee (TMT). California certification efforts will begin as soon as the Tripoli certification is granted.

The proper shipping names and division numbers for the Kosdon by AeroTech reload kits are identical to those approvals already granted for other AeroTech propellants. That is, division 1.4S for reload kits using propellant modules containing not more than 30 g per module; division 1.4C for reload kits using propellant modules containing not more than 62.5 g per module; and division 1.3C for reload kits using propellant modules exceeding 62.5 grams but not more than 1,500 g per module. AeroTech's DOT-E 10996 exemption may be used to ship limited quantities of division 1.3C reload kits by UPS as division 1.4C. AeroTech will be applying for a U.S. Postal Service (USPS) approval to ship the 1.4S reload kits by Parcel Post surface mail in the very near future.

AeroTech and TMT plan to have initial testing completed on two 38mm and 54mm reload kits in time for the upcoming Springfest launch at El Dorado Dry Lake in Nevada on 3/17-18 and the ALRS launch in Switzerland on 3/23-25, 2001. AeroTech representatives plan on attending both launches and Frank Kosdon will be at Springfest to demonstrate the new products.

The AeroTech website is being updated with this news release, the EX-number approval, a video of a recent Kosdon TRM by AeroTech static test firing and a typical time-thrust curve.

India plans second rocket launch next year
India's space agency said on Tuesday a milestone rocket launched this month to put a heavy satellite deep in space was a total success and a second test to launch a heavier satellite was planned next year.

India joined a small club of nations capable of launching heavy satellites on April 18 with the textbook flight of its Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV), which placed a 1,540-kg (3,000-lb) satellite deep into space.

"The launch vehicle mission is a 100 percent success," K. Kasturirangan, chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), told a news conference.

The next launch expected in the third or fourth quarter of next year would carry a load of about 1,750 kg to 1,800 kg and a subsequent third test would aim for a 2,000 kg load, when the rocket would officially enter India's space programme, he said. Click here for more details.

First-Ever Public Viewing of Space Shuttle Main Engine Test
The date for the first-ever evening public engine test of a Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME) at NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 21. Scheduled for ignition at 8 p.m., the spectacular test will mark Stennis Space Center's 20th anniversary celebration of the first Space Shuttle mission.

A highlight of the public engine test will be a special appearance by former astronaut Donald Williams who flew aboard the Space Shuttle twice _ once in 1985 as pilot and again as shuttle commander in 1989. Starting at 7:15 p.m., Williams will comment on the 20th anniversary of the first Space Shuttle mission and conduct a question and answer session prior to the test. Real rocket scientists will also give educational and informative presentations throughout the evening. Click here for details
