NAR Certifies Redesigned AeroTech G80T Motor at 137 N-sec Total Impulse

The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) Standards & Testing (S&T) Committee has certified AeroTech`s new, redesigned G80T Blue Thunder™ single-use model rocket motor at 136.7 N-sec total impulse.

The new G80T is the highest performance single-use model rocket motor ever certified by the NAR. The new 137 N-sec rating represents a 42%+ increase in power over the previous G80T design.

The motor features an all-new molded phenolic casing with a built-in thrust ring, and ships with a FirstFire Jr.™ 2-lead igniter. Delay times will be offered in 7, 10 and 13 seconds which are intended to directly replace the current lineup of 4, 7 and 10 seconds. The suggested retail price for the new G80T will remain unchanged at $25.95 each.

The new G80T motors and outer packaging will be marked with a prominent label that differentiates them from older G80T motors and displays the new NAR-certified 137 N-sec total impulse rating. The first batches of motors are in production and shipments to dealers and distributors are expected to begin in the next few weeks.

AeroTech Showcases New, Improved G80T Motor at iHobby Expo in Chicago

AeroTech has engineered a new, greatly improved G80T Blue Thunder™ single-use model rocket motor, which is being shown for the first time to attendees of the iHobby Expo trade show in Chicago, IL from October 18-21.

The motor, which has been under development since July of 2006, features an all-new molded phenolic casing with a built-in thrust ring, and ships with a FirstFire Jr.™ 2-lead igniter. More importantly, it generates a total impulse over 40% greater than that produced by the current-generation G80T, along with a gorgeous translucent blue exhaust plume studded with prominent "mach diamonds".

"We used every trick in the book on this motor, and then invented some new ones" stated AeroTech/RCS president Gary Rosenfield. "As AeroTech`s flagship single-use model rocket motor, we wanted the new G80T to embody the various casing and propellant technologies that we`ve been developing over the past few years, and to meet or exceed the performance and features of competitive offerings in as many areas as possible."

Ever since the November 2004 release of the first redesigned G80T in the current-generation molded casing, some AeroTech customers have expressed disappointment in the loss of total impulse from the previously certified 116 newton-seconds using a built-up paper-phenolic case design, to under 100 newton-seconds in the molded version. The loss was a consequence of translating the earlier motor design to the molded casing, which required a heavier case wall and substantial insulation thickness to protect it from excessive heating caused by the original G80T`s "C-slot" propellant grain geometry.

The new G80T uses a dual "BATES" center core-burning grain configuration. This eliminates the need for extra case insulation and allows the largest diameter grain possible with a full 62.5 grams of propellant, the maximum permitted for a "legal" model rocket motor. The propellant composition was optimized to increase density and specific impulse (Isp) as much as practical within the parameters of AeroTech`s DOT shipping classification and the inherent limitations of small rocket motor design. The nozzle exit cone was molded with a higher expansion ratio to increase motor efficiency. Other, proprietary design techniques were used as well.

Combined, these improvements have resulted in a delivered total impulse in excess of 130 newton-seconds, the highest ever achieved for a production single-use model rocket motor. The actual total impulse will be revealed once National Association of Rocketry (NAR) certification is granted for the new design. All this was accomplished without the use of exotic propellant chemicals or excessively high chamber pressures that could compromise motor reliability and safety.
 
The new G80T will be available in time delays of 7, 10 and 13 seconds. The 4-second delay has been discontinued, and customers are advised to use the next longer delay time increment for their rockets, due to the greatly increased total impulse. Other specifications of the new G80T include a burn time of 1.7 seconds, loaded weight of 128 grams, fired weight of 59 grams, diameter of 1.125" and a casing length of 4.88". The molded aft thrust ring has dimensions of 1.25" diameter X .25" long. Though the new G80Ts have a different exterior appearance due to the molded aft thrust ring, they will be clearly marked to differentiate them from the older G80Ts.

No user certification is necessary to purchase the G80T, though customers must be at least 18 years of age. AeroTech is now accepting orders for the new G80T motor and anticipates NAR certification to be received in late October to early November. Deliveries to dealers and distributors are expected to begin in late December to early January.

Performance Nomograms Available for AeroTech Motors

During the past few months, Dr. Andreas Mueller of Switzerland has written software that produces a rocket trajectory diagram for any rocket using a single AeroTech motor. From the diagram you select the empty mass, diameter, Cd and launch site altitude, and then read off time to apogee and altitude from the red and green curves.

These diagrams provide an easy means to compute everything the Range Safety Officer (RSO) usually wants know about the rocket, and can serve as excellent documentation for a rocket. Using the nomograms, an RSO can instantly verify the simulation results on a flight card.

The individual performance nomograms have been combined into a single 200-page 18.1 MB PDF file that is now available for download by clicking here or from the "Catalogs" page of the Resource Library.

AeroTech Taking Pre-Orders for the First Mojave Green Motors, New Long-Burn 54/2560 K270W Reload

AeroTech is accepting dealer pre-orders for a number of new RMS reload kits that are anticipated to be a huge hit with high-power rocket consumers during the 2007 fall flying season and beyond.

These reload kits include one 29mm and two 38mm designs using AeroTech`s newest propellant, Mojave Green™. In addition, AeroTech will be introducing a new reload for its RMS-54/2560 case, the long-burning K270W.

Mojave Green propellant generates a vivid green flame with a moderate amount of smoke. Thrust levels and burn times are similar to those produced by motors using AeroTech`s Redline™ propellant. AeroTech has found that Mojave Green generates the highest total impulse per volume of any AeroTech propellant, so these reloads are real performers!

The 7.5 second burn K270W has nearly 50% higher output than the next largest long burn 54mm RMS motor, the popular K185W. It produces about 85% of the power of the legendary LMS K250W, but costs nearly $110 less!

The H250G and the I245G may be sold to NAR or Tripoli Level 1 certified purchasers in possession of an ATFE Low Explosive User Permit (LEUP). The J500G and the K270W require a Level 2 NAR or Tripoli certification.

All the new reloads have been or will soon be submitted for Tripoli testing, and certification is expected shortly. We anticipate deliveries to dealers to begin in late September to early October. Customers are encouraged to place their orders with dealers at their earliest opportunity to ensure timely delivery.

Rouse-Tech Announces Kosdon by Rouse-Tech Animal-Compatible Hardware Sets

In cooperation with AeroTech Consumer Aerospace and Kosdon Enterprises, Rouse-Tech™ will be releasing "Kosdon by Rouse-Tech™ (KBR™) Animal-Compatible™" hardware sets designed for use with the recently released Kosdon by AeroTech™ (KBA™) Animal-Compatible™ reload kits.

These hardware sets will be initially available in three sizes: 38-640, 54-2550 and 75-7600. The hardware will be certified with all six currently available KBA Animal-Compatible reload kits.

KBR Animal-Compatible hardware will be made to exacting specifications with the same level of quality customers have come to expect from Rouse-Tech. Like Monster Motors AeroTech-compatible closures, KBR casings will be hard anodized to protect against against corrosion and damage. Since AMW and Kosdon casings are manufactured to identical dimensional and material specifications, KBR cases may also be used with upcoming KBA reload kits, when combined with Kosdon-specific nozzles and forward bulkheads that may now be purchased from Kosdon Enterprises and will soon be available from Rouse-Tech.

KBR hardware can also be used with the recently released RCS Rocket Motor Components, Inc. KBA Animal-Compatible motor parts (casting tubes, liners and o-rings) for research applications.

Tripoli Motor Testing Committee Certifies 54mm Black Max Reload Kits

The Tripoli Motor Testing (TMT) Committee of the Tripoli Rocketry Association has certified five new AeroTech 54mm Black Max™ RMS™ reload kits.

The new reload kits include the 54/426 I117FJ-M, the 54/852 J250FJ-L, the 54/1280 J401FJ-L, the 54/1706 K513FJ-L and the 54/2560 K828FJ-P.

All five reload kits utilize AeroTech`s Black Max propellant formulation. Black Max propellant, like the slower-burning Black Jack, has a distinctive exhaust note and produces a dense, rich black smoke that is easy to track. RMS motors using Black Max propellant ignite quickly and generate high average thrust levels very similar to those produced by the equivalent White Lightning™ reloads in the same motor hardware.

LDRS 2007 News: NAR Certifies Kosdon by AeroTech Animal-Compatible Reloads

The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) has certified a series of new Kosdon by AeroTech™ (KBA™) Animal-Compatible™ reload kits.

KBA Animal-Compatible reload kits fit in motors using Kosdon/Animal Motor Works™ (AMW™) motor cases with AMW nozzles and bulkheads. The first reloads are being offered in AeroTech`s popular White Lightning™ and Redline™ propellant formulations in three motor sizes: 38-640 (I301W-18, I550R-20), 54-2550 (K750W-P, K1750R-P) and 75-7600 (M1450W-P, M2900R-P).

AeroTech and Dr. Franklin Kosdon, inventor of the snap ring reloadable hobby motor, have been working together during the past year to bring back and update the KBA concept since production ceased in October 2001. AeroTech`s design goals for the new KBA loads were simple: Create a product line that makes clear improvements over the competition in a number of areas.

For example, three of the loads are being produced in propellant styles not offered by AMW in their specific casings.

Second, KBA Animal-compatible reloads are priced 25% below the published retail cost (MSRP) of equivalent Animal Motor Works sizes. The 38-640 loads are $29.99 MSRP, the 54-2550 loads are $119.99 each and the 75-7600 loads are $299.99. This is possible due to the fact that the reload kits generally consist of only propellant, a low-cost liner and a few o-rings.

In addition, KBA reloads will be available from any authorized AeroTech dealer instead of only a few dealers servicing specific territories.

For more information, detailed motor specifications may be viewed on page 18 of the 2007-2008 AeroTech catalog. Please note that due to a data discrepancy between AeroTech`s measured static test data and NAR certification data, the M2900R-P is listed in the AeroTech catalog as the M3500R-P. AeroTech plans on having the M2900R retested in the near future to bring the certification and manufacturing test data into agreement.

The six reloads will be available at LDRS-26 in Jean, NV on July 12-17, while supplies last, through an exclusive arrangement with Wildman Rocketry. After LDRS, the motors may be sold through any authorized AeroTech dealer. AeroTech plans to conduct several flight demonstrations of the new motors at LDRS. Dr. Kosdon will be on hand at LDRS to meet and speak with customers and to autograph reloads and the new AeroTech catalog.

LDRS 2007 News: DOT Approvals Received for New AeroTech "Mojave Green" Propellant; Flight Demonstrations Planned for LDRS-26

The U.S. Department of Transportation`s (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has granted approvals for the shipment of AeroTech`s new "Mojave Green™" propellant in all applicable single-use and reloadable motor case sizes. Flight demonstrations of motors using the new propellant are scheduled for the LDRS-26 Tripoli Rocketry Association annual meet in Jean NV on July 12-17.

Mojave Green is AeroTech`s newest propellant designed for its single-use and RMS reloadable motors. Named for an infamous green rattlesnake with two types of venom that roams the Mojave Desert, Mojave Green produces a brilliant green exhaust plume with a moderate amount of smoke. Mojave Green`s high density and relatively high specific impulse results in a higher delivered total impulse in any given motor size than other AeroTech propellants. Motor burn times using Mojave Green propellant are similar to those produced by Redline™.

AeroTech is planning a number of Mojave Green flight demonstrations at LDRS-26, including `J`, `K` and `M`-class motors. Certification and production of the first Mojave Green motors is anticipated for late summer/early fall 2007.

LDRS 2007 News: 54mm "Soda Can" `I` Motors To Be Available at LDRS-26

The Tripoli Motor Testing Committee (TMT) has certified a series of new AeroTech 54mm single-grain reload kits that are planned for sale at the LDRS-26 Tripoli Rocketry Association annual meet in Jean NV on July 12-17.

AeroTech has designed a new 54/426 single-grain casing for the 54mm RMS™ Reloadable Motor System™ series. Dubbed the "Soda Can" `I` by those who have held it, this motor will also be available through AeroTech`s hardware partner Rouse-Tech™ Monster Motors™. The initial reload kit introduction for the 54/426 case includes a White Lightning™ I115W, a Blue Thunder™ I229T, a Redline™ I215R and a Warp-9™ I599N. The total impulses of all these reloads are in the low 400 N-sec. range. RMS-54/426 motors are perfect when flying under limited altitude waiver conditions and on relatively small launch sites.

The four reloads will be shown at LDRS-26 in Jean, NV and will be sold through an exclusive arrangement with Just Rockets of Las Vegas. After LDRS, the motors will be available through any authorized AeroTech dealer. They may be sold to any NAR or Tripoli Level 1 certified purchaser in possession of an ATFE Low Explosive User Permit (LEUP).

LDRS 2007 News: New 2007-2008 AeroTech Catalog To Be Released at LDRS-26

The new AeroTech Consumer Aerospace 2007-2008 product catalog is planned for release at the LDRS-26 Tripoli Rocketry Association annual meet in Jean NV on July 12-17.

The 20-page catalog features new rocket action photos taken by well-known sport rocket photographer Nadine Kinney, and contributors David Reese, Brent Hill, Rick Clapp and Patrick Wagner. The catalog includes all currently available and soon to be released Warp-9™ RMS™ reload kits, high power Black Max™ reloads, 75 & 98mm long burn motors, the Electronic Forward Closure™ and a number of surprising new products that will be announced at LDRS. In addition, motor technical data, thrust curves and projected altitudes have been updated for the new model rocket RMS, Econojet™ and standard hobby line single-use & LMS™ motors.

LDRS 2007 News: New Long-Burn 75mm & 98mm AeroTech RMS™ Motors to Debut at LDRS-26 in Jean, NV

The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) has certified two new AeroTech long-burning high power Reloadable Motor System™ (RMS) rocket motor reloading kits, the M650W and the M750W.

The M650W is a 75mm diameter reload that fits AeroTech, Rouse-Tech™ or Dr. Rocket™ 75/6400 RMS hardware. Certified at 5,964 N-sec of total impulse, the M650W has a NAR-certified burn time of 9.13 seconds and a peak thrust of 1,475 Newtons (332 lbs).

The M750W is a 98mm diameter reload that fits the 98/10240 RMS hardware. It was certified at 9,325 N-sec of total impulse, with a burn time of 12.65 seconds and a peak thrust of 1,454 Newtons (327 lbs).

Both the M650W and the M750W use segmented White Lightning™ propellant grains in a "moonburning" offset core geometry. The segments are bonded together by the user during assembly with 15 minute epoxy to allow the motor to burn as a single grain configuration. By offering the reload kit in segments, the reloads may be shipped inexpensively by common carriers such as UPS or FedEx using AeroTech`s special permit DOT-SP 10996.

The M750W reload kit includes a new "Medusa™" multi-throat nozzle and must be used with a new enlarged 98mm aft closure that will be available from AeroTech and Rouse-Tech.

The two reloads will debut at LDRS-26 in Jean, NV on July 12-17 and will be made available through an exclusive arrangement with What`s Up Hobbies and Mojave Desert High Power (MDHP). MDHP will be the exclusive LDRS-26 dealer for the 75mm M650W, while What`s Up Hobbies will be the exclusive dealer for the 98mm M750W. After LDRS, the motors will be available through any authorized AeroTech dealer. Prices for the new long-burn reloads will be the same as their core-burning counterparts.

AeroTech Product Bulletin 2007-2: M2400T Nozzle Exchange

AeroTech has initiated an exchange program for older nozzles used in the M2400T reload kit.

AeroTech has found that in rare circumstances certain older phenolic nozzles used in the AeroTech M2400T reload kit may fail during operation. The nature of this failure is that a crack will develop during the motor burn that can result in vectored thrust and/or ejection of a portion of the nozzle exit cone. This may cause the rocket to fly in an erratic manner and may also result in damage to the motor`s aft closure, casing or even the rocket vehicle.

The nozzles that are suspect in this failure mode have a distinctive machined interior exit cone profile. They are easily distinguishable from the more recent 98mm nozzles which have a molded interior exit cone. The molded exit cone nozzles have a darker, smooth interior surface appearance, and a more shallow entrance angle (120 degrees vs. 90 degrees) in the nozzle`s convergent section.

Customers who have machined exit cone M2400T nozzles in their possession are requested to return them to AeroTech or to an authorized dealer at their earliest opportunity. They will be replaced with the newer molded exit cone nozzles at no charge.

AeroTech Releases New Products at 2007 NRHSA Show in Las Vegas

AeroTech is introducing a number of new products at the 2007 National Retail Hobby Stores Association, Inc. (NRHSA) Convention and Tabletop Expo at the Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas, NV, presented on May 31 through June 1.
The F27R is AeroTech`s first Econojet™ single-use rocket motor using its well-known Redline™ propellant. The F27R motors (part nos. 62704 and 62708) produce an outstanding exhaust plume while exhibiting the Redline signature laser-beam red color.

The 29mm diameter F27R delivers a total impulse of 50 N-sec with a burn time of 2.0 seconds and a peak thrust of 38 newtons. The F27R will be sold in a 2-pack at a retail price of $37.95, in time delays of 4 and 8 seconds. The F27R has been certified for use by consumers nationwide by the National Association of Rocketry (NAR).

The NAR also extended certification to a Loadable Motor System™ (LMS™) kit version of the F27R.

The F27-4R/L and F27-8R/L (part nos. 62804 and 62808) join the current F20W/L, F42T/L, G77R/L and G79W/L LMS motor kit lineup and will be sold as a 2-pack. They are quickly and easily assembled with 5-minute epoxy. The F27R/L LMS motor kits are priced at $33.99 per pack, a savings of nearly $4 over the equivalent pre-assembled Econojets. A key advantage of the LMS is the ability to change or modify delays, and the appropriate AeroTech reload delay kits (RDKs) are specified on the LMS motor kit instructions.

Both the Econojet and LMS versions of the F27R have already been classified by the California Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) and may be sold to and used by California consumers. They may also be shipped via USPS Parcel Post® without a hazmat fee. Like all other AeroTech single-use motors, the F27R is shipped with a color-coded bondable aft thrust ring.

In response to dealer and consumer requests, AeroTech has redesigned the F23FJ Black Max™ Econojet (part nos. 62304 and 62307) and the RMS™-29/40-120 G33J Black Jack™ reload kit (part nos. 73305 and 73307) to use 30 gram propellant grains. The redesign resulted in a loss of about 10% of each motor`s total impulse, but now allows these motors and reload kits to be shipped by USPS Parcel Post® without incurring a hazmat fee. The redesigned F23FJ and G33J motors are currently undergoing certification by the NAR, and will include a new 10-second delay for the new G33J. Prices of the F23FJ Econojet motors and G33J RMS reload kits will remain at $36.95 per 2-pack and $12.95 each respectively.

The NAR is also in the process of certifying an LMS kit version of the redesigned F23FJ. The F23FJ/L LMS motor kits (part nos. 62904 and 62907) are priced at $32.99 per 2-pack, a savings of nearly $4 over the equivalent pre-assembled Econojets. They may be shipped via USPS Parcel Post® like the Econojet versions. All LMS motor kits including the F27R/L and F23FJ/L will be available dealer direct only for the near future.

AeroTech is now accepting orders for the new and redesigned products and anticipates shipments to dealers and distributors to begin by early July. AeroTech Receives Additional California State Fire Marshal Approvals

The California Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) has issued classification approvals for two new AeroTech RMS™ rocket motor reload kits.

The specific products approved are:

AeroTech Introduces HDK™ Hobby Delay Kits for Model Rocket RMS™ Motors

AeroTech is introducing a series of "HDK" hobby delay kits for use with its line of RMS-18/20, 24/40 & 29/40-120 reloadable model rocket motors.

Customers have been requesting separate delay kits for the model rocket line of RMS motors for several years, and AeroTech has responded. The new HDK kits include three each delay elements and delay spacers (if required), and will initially be produced in 23 different configurations to be compatible with the current line of 18-29mm model rocket RMS reload kits. They will be available from AeroTech`s dealer network for $4.95 each suggested retail. AeroTech is now accepting orders for the new HDK delay kits and anticipates shipments to dealers and distributors to begin by early June.

AeroTech Product Bulletin 2007-1: New Forward Seal Disk Now Required For Use With Specific 54mm RMS™ Reloads

As a result of customer feedback and field experience, AeroTech is now requiring the use of a new 54mm "forward seal disk" (part no. 54FSD) with current production RMS-54/1280 J1999N-P and the 54/2560 K700W-P & K1275R-P reload kits.

A small percentage of customers using these 54mm reload kits have reported a "blister" forming on the exterior of the forward end of the motor case. The blister is caused by excessive heating due to a small amount of hot gas passing between the case and liner during motor operation. In addition to weakening the casing, the blister may interfere with the proper fit of the case in the rocket`s motor mount tube.

In the past, AeroTech has implemented the use of similar forward seal disks with its longer 29mm, 38mm and 75mm RMS motors. The seal disk is a narrow aluminum ring that seals to the inside of the phenolic liner with a circumferential o-ring. The motor`s forward o-ring seals against the forward seal disk when the motor closures are tightened. With the use of the seal disk, the liner o-ring and phenolic forward insulator are no longer required and are not included with the new reload kits.

The 54mm forward seal disk will be available from AeroTech and its authorized dealers at a price of $14.99 suggested retail. Three seal disk o-rings will be included with each disk for use with older reloads. Updated assembly drawings and instructions for the affected reloads are now available for download in PDF format from the Resource Library.

NOTE: This seal disk is not the same as the disposable 54mm seal disk included with the K250W-P/L LMS™ motor kit.

SpaceTec LLC Appointed as Official AeroTech European Distributor

AeroTech has appointed SpaceTec Rocketry LLC, Zurich, Switzerland as the official distributor for AeroTech products in Europe.

SpaceTec has been importing AeroTech motors, kits and components into Europe since 1996 and has been supplying products to many dealers all over Europe for a number of years. The appointment of SpaceTec as the official AeroTech distributor is the culmination of a business relationship that has grown throughout that time.

SpaceTec will be handling all orders by European dealers and also will be taking care of warranty claims for Europe. Dealer inquiries are welcome.

AeroTech Motors Receive German BAM Approval

Effective immediately, all CE-approved AeroTech rocket motors containing White Lightning™, Redline™, Blue Thunder™, Black Jack™ and Black Max™ propellants have been granted German "BAM" numbers, and may now be purchased and flown in Germany by licensed users.

AeroTech`s European distributor SpaceTec applied for this approval immediately after the AeroTech CE certification was received in February, and the "Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung" (BAM) issued the corresponding numbers faster than expected. The BAM approval is another example of SpaceTec`s efforts to promote rocketry all over Europe.

In the next effort, selected single-use motors containing less than 20 grams of propellant will be entered into the "T1" certification process, thus allowing purchase of these smaller AeroTech motors by unlicensed consumers.

NAR Certifies Warp-9™ G69N Endburning Reload Kit

The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) Standards & Testing Committee has certified a new endburning motor using AeroTech`s Warp-9™ propellant, the G69N-P (P/N 07069P).

The G69N is the most powerful solid propellant motor available without an ATF Low Explosives User Permit (LEUP). Designed for AeroTech, Dr. Rocket™ and Rouse-Tech™ RMS™-38/120 hardware, the G69N produces a certified total impulse of 137 N-sec with a burn time of just under 2 seconds. The delivered specific impulse (Isp) of the G69N is 224 seconds.

The G69N`s exceptional performance was achieved through a combination of design features, including the use of 62.2 grams of high efficiency Warp-9 propellant with a constant burning surface area, high chamber pressure, high expansion ratio and a "bell"-shaped nozzle.

Warp-9 reloads are currently sold in a plugged configuration and rockets using them must employ a timer, altimeter or radio-actuated recovery system. The AeroTech EFC-1™ Electronic Forward Closure™ is perfect for use with the G69N when combined with the EFC38-1 motor closure.

The G69N reload kit will be priced at $19.95 each. No user certification is necessary to purchase the G69N, though customers must be at least 18 years of age. AeroTech is now accepting orders for the new G69N reload, and shipments to dealers will commence shortly.

Tripoli Motor Testing Committee Certifies Long-Awaited J825R Redline™ Reload

The Tripoli Motor Testing (TMT) committee of the Tripoli Rocketry Association has certified a new high-power RMS™ reload kit using AeroTech’s "Redline™" propellant, the 38mm J825R-M.

Originally announced in 2001, the J825R fits AeroTech, Dr. Rocket and Rouse-Tech RMS™-38/1080 casings and generates a total impulse of nearly 1,000 newton-seconds with a burn time of just under 1.2 seconds. Other specifications include a peak thrust of nearly 250 pounds, a propellant mass of 497 grams and an initial mass of 878 grams. The J825R joins the popular J570W and J575FJ reloads already certified for the 38/1080 motor hardware.

One significant difference between the J825R and the other 38/1080 reloads is the inclusion of 8 slightly longer propellant grains rather than 9 shorter grains as used in the J570W and J575FJ. The grains weigh less than 62.5 grams each due to the lower density of Redline propellant when compared with the White Lightning™ and Black Max™ formulations.

The J825R reload kit will be priced the same as the J570W and J575FJ, at $76.95 each. AeroTech is now accepting orders for the new J825R reload and anticipates shipments to dealers to begin in mid-May.

AeroTech Introduces New G71R 29mm Redline™ Reload Kit at NARCON 2007

AeroTech is releasing the first new `G` class reload kit for its RMS-29/40-120 reloadable model rocket motor hardware in nearly 13 years: the G71R.

The G71R uses AeroTech`s Redline™ propellant and produces a highly visible exhaust plume with Redline`s signature laser-beam red color. It is a two-grain configuration similar to the recently redesigned G64W, and like the G64W may be shipped via U.S. Mail Parcel Post® with no hazmat fee. The G71R will be available in three time delays: G71-4R (P/N 77104), G71-7R (P/N 77107) and G71-10R (P/N 77110)

The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) certified total impulse for the G71R is 107 N-sec. Other statistics include a burn time of 1.51 seconds, average thrust of 71.0 Newtons, peak thrust of 117 Newtons, propellant mass of 56.9 grams and initial mass of 147 grams. It may be used interchangeably in the same kits as the G64W reload, with the same time delays.

The G71R reload kit will be priced the same as the G64W, at $12.95 each. AeroTech is accepting orders for the G71R now and anticipates shipments to dealers and distributors to begin in mid to late May.

European CE Approval Granted for AeroTech Rocket Motor Products

AeroTech is pleased to announce the successful completion of the conformity tests according to European Directive 93/15/EEC on the full “classic” line of AeroTech model and high-power single-use and RMS™ reloadable rocket motors.

AeroTech rocket motor products have met or exceeded all of these standards for safety and reliability in use and transport as set forth by the United Nations and European Directives.

While CE markings are not yet required in many European countries, and their current local regulations may continue for some time, this is a major breakthrough for those countries where Directive 93/15/EEC has already been adopted and an important step for the future.

With this CE marking, the entire AeroTech rocket motor product line may be legally sold within the whole European Community.

AeroTech would like to thank its European distributor SpaceTec LLC, Mr. Juerg Thuering and Mr. Stefan Wimmer for all the work done over the past years in liaison with local authorities as they pursued this approval.

The CE approval is yet another achievement in AeroTech’s continuing effort to expand the availability of safe, legal and easy to use products for the hobby and educational rocketry community.

National Association of Rocketry Certifies New AeroTech LMS™ Motor Kit

The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) has extended certification to a Loadable Motor System™ (LMS™) kit version of the popular F42T Econojet™.

The F42-4T/L and F42-8T/L (part nos. 64104 and 64108) join the current F20W/L, G77R/L and G79W/L LMS motor kit lineup and will be sold as a 2-pack. They are quickly and easily assembled with 5-minute epoxy. The F42T/L LMS motor kits are priced at $32.99 per pack, a savings of $4 over the assembled equivalent Econojets, and like the other LMS motors are shipped with color-coded bondable aft thrust rings.

A key advantage of the LMS is the ability to change or modify delays, and the appropriate AeroTech reload delay kits (RDKs) are specified on the LMS motor kit instructions. In addition, all LMS kits including the F42T/L may be shipped via USPS Parcel Post® with no hazmat fees.

All LMS motor kits will be available dealer direct only for the near future. Production of the F42T/L will commence shortly and shipments to dealers should begin in early February.
